For heroism above and beyond the call of duty on 01 October 2015 when he selflessly and without care of personal harm attempted to stop a rampaging active shooter at his college campus Chris Mintz, aveteran of US Army attending school on the GI Bill, heard the shooting and placed himself between his fellow students and faculty and attempted to bar the door and allow them time to escape. He sustained wounds from seven gunshots until he was rendered unable to resist any further. His selfless action and extraordinary heroism forced the shooter to focus on him and allowed others time to escape. Mr. Chris Mintz's selfless bravery in the face of danger and risk of death and certain injury, and in defense of unarmed civilians brings great credit upon himself, the US Army and the United States.
