We, the undersigned, ask President Obama to award the Congressional Medal of Honor to Lt. jg John F. Kennedy USN for Service Above and Beyond the Call of Duty for saving the lives of the crew of PT 109 after it's sinking by a Japanese Destroyer. Wounded himself, Kennedy towed men by their life jacket straps between his teeth to an atoll and safety. He then swam through dangerous waters to gain the help needed to rescue his crew. He certainly could have been discharged from the Navy but chose instead to take command of the PT 59 and continue the fight.
