WW 2 had begun and the US needed positive actions. Jimmy Doolittle and 80 of his raiders took off from an aircraft carrier to bomb Tokyo, even though they knew they didn't have the fuel to get back. Several died in the raid, more died in prison camps or were executed. But the raid over Tokyo struck at the heart of the Japanese war mentality and was a critical moment for the US effort. These men knew they would not make it back and flew anyway. They deserve the Congressional Gold Medal. There are only 4 left alive and all are in their 90's and frail. Give these men their recognition while they are still alive
