Award First Lady Dolly Madison the Presidental Medal of Freedom

Created by S.S. on January 08, 2012

Please consider awarding First Lady Dolly Madison the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her gallant deed of saving the portrait of George Washington, (War of 1812).

She risked her own life to save this irreplaceable portrait of our first president from the British before the burning of the White House. Her forethought saved the honor and respect of the United States. Imagine the portrait of George Washington (considered a traitor) being paraded through the streets of London in triumph. Our great first lady, Dolly Madison made sure this portrait was safe before the White House was captured.

By awarding her bravery will be an honor that we as Americans can all celebrate.
