Walter Mondale has been a guiding force in American politics and government for a half century. His contributions to the American landscape have been numerous. He has served the great State of Minnesota as a United States Senator; he has served as the Vice President of the United States under President Jimmy Carter from 1977 to 1981. He ran for President in the 1984 election. He served as the United States Ambassador to Japan. Throughout his public life he has been a strong supporter of Civil Rights and the freedom of the Citizen's of the United States and indeed the World. Honoring this great American patriot would be very fitting at this time.
