The teachers and staff of Sandy Hook Elementary, in the hour of greatest darkness, risked and sometimes lost their lives to protect the children that were endangered. The word "hero" has been diluted by modern culture, but what they did was true heroism. We, as a nation, need to acknowledge what they did so that we do not forget the light in these dark times. They all have earned the highest honors that their country can give them. Please, Mr. president, honor our heroes.
