award Jon Stewart the Presidential Medal of Freedom, for service to the public, veterans, and 9/11 First Responders.

Created by C.B. on August 07, 2015

Jon Stewart has worked for 16 years to educate the public on political matters, has advocated strongly for health care for veterans, and for health benefits for 9/11 First Responders. He used his media platform to raise awareness of, and to lay open, the hypocrisy prevalent in the political scene today so that citizens are better informed and motivated to participate in our democracy. He's challenged Congress on issues of veterans' health care, trying to cut the red tape so these men and women can get the benefits they earned through their service. He has brought to everyone's attention the plight of First Responders to 9/11 attacks in their struggle to get the health care they deserve. Jon Stewart did this using intelligent humor and wit. He's a national treasure.
