Linus Torvalds, a naturalized Finnish immigrant to the United States currently living in Portland, OR, created the open-source Linux operating system in 1991 which is in use in most mainframe computers, servers, supercomputers and embedded devices today.
Since the software code he developed was placed in the public domain, it's use has added substantial economic benefit to the nation and the world, including being the underlying source of the Android phone operating systems and multiple gaming platforms.
Because of this, we the undersigned, believe that Mr. Torvalds deserves the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
