award a medal by either the president or vice-president to blood donors who have achieved at least 50 donations.

Blood donors, particularly those who have repeatedly donated a large number of times, deserve recognition as true heroes of our society. Yet other than letters and e-mails of thanks from the Red Cross itself, these generous/selfless members of our communities are taken for granted and this is not fair. All military people have many benefits awaiting them both while they are active service and after discharge, yet only a small percentage of such uniformed people have been in harm's way of actual combat, for all the years of 1974-2014. So why do high donation-count blood donors not even get a medal, let alone all of the benefits the Federal government bestows on those who wore a uniform? It is time this injustice be righted. More people will donate if it is, helping deal with the shortages.
