On December 24th 2012 Webster Police responded with West Webster Firefighters to a call of a vehicle/house fire. As they arrived they were ambushed by a lone gunman. Webster Police officer Mark Reed, in particular, was caught in the cross fire as a gunman shot four firefighters at the scene of the Lake Road fire.
Officer Reed engaged the shooter, firing six shots at him. The Gunman was carrying 400 rounds of ammo and fired 58 shots before killing himself.
Police Officer Kevin Hall tried to protect one of the fallen firefighters with his ballistic shield while officer Reed engaged the shooter.
