award Ms. Elizabeth Laird of Killeen, TX the Presidential Medal of Freedom. She is the "Hug Lady" at Fort Hood, TX.

Created by J.W. on November 16, 2015

Starting 2003, Ms. Elizabeth Laird, the "Hug Lady" has shook hands or (since 2008) hugged nearly every Fort Hood-based Soldier and Airman going to or coming from Iraq and Afghanistan.
The day her husband was buried, she attended his funeral and immediately went to the airfield to see Soldiers off.
Ms. Laird was recently hospitalized with Breast Cancer, which she has been silently fighting since 2005.
Because she was there for all of us Soldiers, we feel it only proper to petition an award fitting of such accomplishment as Ms. Laird's.
