award The Presidential Citizens Medal to Antoinette Tuff

Created by P.H. on August 21, 2013

Antoinette Tuff put herself in harms way to talk down a gunman in a Georgia school on August 20, 2013. She demonstrated compassion for someone who was mental unstable and was threatening both children and the police. She maintained her composure until the gunman surrendered and police were able to take the gunman into custody without injury to anyone. Although afraid for her own safety, she did what was necessary for the safety of her community and the children of the school. She deserves recognition for her extraordinary actions.
