Whereas on August 20, 2013, Antoinette Tuff of the Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy stood up to an armed gunman for the protection of the children of her school.
Whereas Ms. Tuff maintained a calm and level demeanor to diffuse the situation with complete disregard to her personal safety and was instrumental in the situation ending with no loss of life.
Whereas Ms. Tuff displayed love and compassion for a dangerous man.
Let it be resolved that Antoinette Tuff displayed courage and heroism in keeping with the best traditions of our nation and should be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
