George Strait is one of the most popular recording artists of all time. He is commonly referred to as "King George," and deservingly so. His career has spanned more than 3 decades, he has accumulated 60 number one hits, and has recorded 26 studio albums. He has influenced countless musicians and songwriters, and has entertained millions of people. George Strait has recently decided to retire from touring, although he will continue to record new music. He has been nominated for more CMA and ACM awards and has more wins in both categories than any other artist, but we feel that he is deserving of a higher honor. We ask that President Obama consider awarding The United States of America's highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, on Mr. Strait in the music category.
