Jane Elliot is the rare human that takes action against insurmountable odds. She has chosen to do battle with an abominable opponent that has a foothold in the psyche of the western world: RACISM. Mrs. Elliot pioneered a social experiment that illustrates in no uncertain terms the pains and senselessness of racism, racial profiling and institutionalized bigotry. It is called the brown eye/blue eye experiment.
Many people talk about the social illness of racism. Mrs Elliot actually has effected change. I defy anyone to immerse themselves in her exercise and not be transformed in a substantive way. She has taken on the Herculean task of forcing the willfully myopic to see what they simply can not or will not allow themselves to see.
