Tyler Doohan, who was just 8 years old, became a real-life hero on Monday when he saved six members of his family after a fire broke out in their mobile home in upstate New York.
The little boy helped to wake his other family members, six of whom made it out. But when he couldn't see his disabled grandfather, he went back in to save him.
The bodies of Doohan and his grandfather were found on the bed in the rear of the home. It appears that the boy was trying to lift his grandfather from the bed when they were overcome by smoke and heat.
Tyler has been described by friends, family, and teachers in the community as a selfless human being who always came to school with a smile on his face and was always wondering what he could do to help. Tyler deserves to be honored with this medal!
