Prince Rogers Nelson, known as “Prince” should be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. A true revolutionary, his influence on rock, pop, R&B, jazz and funk exploded onto and shaped the musical landscape of the 1980s and beyond. Originator of the “Minneapolis Sound”, Prince used his love of musical instruments and sound production to create a uniqueness all his own. Dubbed “Mozart of the Modern Age”, his joyful and prolific outpouring of music culminated in no fewer than 39 albums, 136 music videos and 3 major motion pictures. His quiet philanthropy was boundless; he used his music to contribute to those in need on a local, national and international level. While living, he became an American icon. Prince’s inarguable contributions to music are both indelible and immeasurable.
