award Quincy Delight Jones, Jr. the Presidential Medal of Freedom for contributions that span multiple genres of music

Created by H.M. on March 01, 2016

For a career surviving 4 wars, 10 Presidents, countless shifts in methods of music creation + production & much social upheaval over 6 decades, no other honor can show society's vast debt to QJ. His social activism (civil rights, charity+philanthropy); his seminal work in music, tv & film; tv+film production, tv+film scores, creating+producing music in jazz, R&B, funk, soul, blues, bossa nova, big band, rock&roll, hip hop, His record 79 Grammy nods (27 wins) warrant it. A living example of the American Dream, he proved that anyone who's diligent & hard-working enough can make it in America, even a poor black boy born on Chicago's South Side long before the March on Washington. He chose music instead of crime as an escape from poverty; Pres. Obama: Af-Am/SouthSideChi aside... come on, man.
