Award the Secretary of Defense Medal for the Defense of Freedom to 9/11 victims & responders. The symbolism of the medal itself (the four red stripes) recognizes the four terrorist attacks using hijacked airplanes. This is our medal, it belongs to 9/11 victims & responders.
The criteria would be:
1) Anyone killed at the WTC, the Pentagon or Shanksville on 9/11, & has not already been awarded this medal.
2) Anyone who has since perished due to a 9/11-related condition.
3) Anyone who is covered under the WTC National Responder Program for an eligible condition.
4) Anyone who is eligible under the Zadroga Act.
5) Anyone who is eligible under the WTC Litigation Settlement.
9/11 responders are dying every day. please recognize for our efforts before more of us are gone.
