I believe that teach Victoria Soto should be awarded either the Congressional Gold Medal or the Presidential Medal of Freedom, possibly even the Congressional Medal of Honor. Although the Medal of Honor is only for military personnel, I believe she should be made the exception, given her ultimate sacrifice for the kids in her classroom, and the fact that she was in a war-like scenario.
On December 14, Adam Lanza shot and killed 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Victoria Soto selflessly gave her life for her students, preventing the deaths of even more children.
An act like this is nothing short of the ultimate level of bravery and selflessness, something that should be commemorated with one of the above listed medals.
