AWARE & Comprehensive School Safety funds best used for School & Community Based Service Planning in line with IDEA.

Created by J.B. on February 05, 2013

Millions of Americans are unable to find mental health care. 1/2 of mental illness goes untreated. Data shows 70% of youth with mental illness drop out of school. IDEA states that when referrals for Emotionally Disturbed and Otherwise Health Impaired students are made that students be evaluated, FBA's created Behavioral Implementation Plans, with measurable goal tracking, implemented. Funding for project AWARE should be intrinsic to IDEA but it is not enough. Support legislature allocating Comprehensive School Safety Program funding within IDEA; allow schools to provide mandated services that currently are unfunded, support implementation of the current educational laws by expanding IDEA regs to include community based service coordination & support scientific method & progress monitoring.
