A Department of Peace is not a new idea. Congress has been presented with bills before and they have never passed. We envision a department that will supplement, not oppose the activities of the Department of Defense, and will work to find alternative solutions to problems that face our nation both domestically and internationally.

A Department of Peace will work to:
*Teach violence prevention and mediation to America's school children
*Rehabilitate the prison population
*Build peace-making efforts among conflicting cultures both here and abroad.
*Support our military with complementary approaches to peace-building.
