The National Rifle Association has chosen to respond to the tragedy of gun violence in the most callous & least constructive way possible: more gun violence.
This makes them no better than the members of Westboro Baptist Church and their funeral protests.
The NRA's agenda of perpetuating a fantasy that free access to firearms is somehow a defense of liberty is anachronistic & destructive, and directly contributes to the needless deaths of 30,000 Americans a year.
The SPLC defines a hate group as having “beliefs or practices that attack or malign an entire class of people”. That clearly includes the NRA's gun agenda.
They should be ashamed.
They should be rejected.
Legislators need to disavow them, and recognize them as the hate group that they are.
The time has come, Mr President.
