The U.S. government subsidizes farmers to keep food prices up and farmers from going bankrupt. Paying them to produce feed corn for ethanol, also known as grain alcohol, would only cost the government a fraction more. Ethanol is fairly cheap to produce and has a high value. Usable as both a fuel and as beverage alcohol it retains value as a consumable. Backing the U.S. dollar with ethanol greatly decreases the chance of inflation and allows us to print money once all existing money is backed. Once more ethanol burns clean and is a viable alternative to gasoline in the event of a gas shortage and producing at a cheaper rate than the value allows the U S. government to in essence create money once existing dollars are backed. This over time eliminates the national debt. Thank you.
