Bailout the Philadelphia School District

Created by C.M. on June 02, 2013

The Philadelphia School District has just finalized massive budget cuts from lack of funding, and need a bailout desperately. We need to save our schools, our students, and through them, our future.

About 3,000 jobs are estimated to be cut, including all school librarians and even a bunch of teachers.

School nurses are no more, as are guidance counselors, who helped students apply to college.

Dozens of schools are going to be closed, so remaining schools will be very over-populated.

All activities (including art and music classes, as well as all sports) will be canceled at every school in the city.

After-school activities were the only things keeping some kids away from crime or even attending school at all. Crime rate is expected to go up, as is the drop-out rate.
