The federal government has been living beyond its means for too long. The budget can be balanced in a responsible manner without singling out or neglecting one sect of society. We can cut spending by shrinking a bloated and inefficient government, while maintaining only necessary functions and ensuring efficiency. However, the budget in its present state cannot be balanced effectively without a raise in revenue. That being said, a raise in taxes is also necessary to balance the budget and ensure America's future is not one caked in debt + interest.
A balanced budget would stabilize an America plagued by uncertainty, fueling the optimism we need with responsibility.
