Balance the budget with reductions of salaries of our congressmen and senators. Also reduce the expense accounts.

Created by L.P. on December 01, 2011

I petition the government of the US to reduce the wages of congressmen and senators to two times the median wage for the average american. Speaker of the house and Senate majority leader are allowed twenty thousand more. Also reduce the expense accounts of said federal elected officials to 1.3 million annually from an average of 3.3 million. Also reduce the presidents salary to five times the median wage for the average american. The savings from these reductions would be eleven trillion, two hundred four million, five hundred thousand dollars over ten years. I see no reason why our elected federal officials should earn more than four to ten times more than the median wage of the average american. These reductions alone would almost eliminate our deficit in ten years.
