The chairman of the joint chiefs of staff has said that America’s debt "is the single, biggest threat to our national security."
Entitlement and defense spending make up 75% of our federal budget. When Social Security was established in the ‘30s, life expectancy at birth was 58 for men and 62 for women. Today, the average life expectancy is 78 years but the retirement age is unchanged. As for defense spending, America spends more on defense than the next 19 biggest spending nations combined!
It is time to slowly raise the retirement age, means test medicare, and modernize our military. Let's make the tough choices necessary to keep America strong!
