Ban Advertisement Mailers That Impersonate Government Mailings Or Tax Forms.

Created by J.C. on August 22, 2013

Prevent advertisers from using the same design and appearance as official government mailings or tax forms. By making advertising that looks the same as official correspondence, advertisers impersonate the government and essentially force people to open mail that they might otherwise not choose to open. This is coercive and misleading. Consumers should have a right to know immediately if a piece of mail is an advertisement, or an actual tax form or other information from an official entity.
