Ban the advertising of pharmaceutical drugs on television.

I petition that we ban pharmaceutical advertising from television. There is no value to advertising prescription drugs to the average citizen. The decision to prescribe a medication or treat an illness should be left to the experts. Advertising should be limited to medical publications, periodicals, etc. Unfortunately, there is at least one pharmaceutical ad during every television commercial break. This leads to misuse, over prescribing, and self diagnosis.
