Ban all assault weapons and create stricter and more tightly enforced gun laws

In the light of the recent Newtown tragedy, we wish to petition the Obama Administration to:
Ban the sale and distribution of assault weapons to all civilians.
Retailers must require hunting permits and background checks which disclose information about any person living in the household with a mental illness, past or present.
Ammunition may only be purchased in regulated amounts over a period of time.
