ban all forms of advertising of movies and video games depicting graphic violence.

Created by G.F. on January 18, 2013

Advertising for tobacco products has been banned for many years under the premise that such products are dangerous to the health of individuals susceptible to certain illnesses linked to tobacco use. Since there is substantial research indicating that depictions of graphic violence are injurious to the mental health of certain individuals that are susceptible to its effects, a similar ban on advertising should be imposed. This should not present constitutional issues since none arose in banning tobacco advertising. Moreover, absence of advertising did not adversely affect the tobacco industry, and so should not affect the movie and video gaming industries.
