ban all guns throughout the US except for law enforcement officers and the military to carry out their duties.

In light of the recent slayings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, one of a growing number of these actions, it is imperative that the US finally move in the direction of disarming casual gun owners. This would exclude active duty military and law enforcement officers. When the founding fathers created the constitution, and established the right to bear arms, they could not have imagined the state of the country today. We need to update the constitution to reflect the times in which we live; to make thoughtful provisions for sportsmen for the occasional and monitored use of firearms; and removing all guns, rifles, shotguns, and semi- and automatic rifles from the general population.
