Marine mammals are taken from the wild to be held in captivity usually for public display. This petition is to prohibit the taking of animals from their habitats simply to entertain and amuse the public. For example the amusement park SeaWorld.
The nature of each animal makes them unsuited to be restricted to small areas. Whales and dolphins travel long distances each day, sometimes swimming in a straight line for a hundred miles. Other times they remain in a certain spot for a few hours or days before they continue their path. This clearly shows that a few hundred feet in an aquarium won’t cut it for them.
