We the undersigned, do hereby petition the United States government to implement a complete ban on any and all rattlesnake killing roundups in the United States. Rattlesnake roundups are extremely cruel to snakes, and are greatly damaging our ecology.
We further state that the type of irresponsible actions rattlesnake roundups promote public cruelty to thousands of rattlesnakes each year, including torture, dismemberment and death. At roundups, show goers are spectators to the publicly displayed carnage of thousands of mutilated animals at each show.
Many species of rattlesnakes are dwindling. Without rattlesnakes and their venom for medical research we may never find cures for some diseases.
