Ban all tobacco products to protect public health.

Created by M.M. on April 03, 2013

Tobacco and all things related to it pose a serious and immediate risk to public health. Over 440,000 people die each year from cigarette smoking, with 49,000 of those deaths due to second hand smoke (inhaling carcinogens from other's cigarettes.) Therefore, a person is not only harming their own health when smoking, but everyone around them as well.
Tobacco is also the leading cause of preventable deaths in the U.S. 90% of lung cancers are directly related to smoking. Tobacco also causes cancer of throat, mouth, nose, esophagus, stomach, pancreas, kidney, bladder and cervix. People who smoke are six times more likely to suffer a heart attack than nonsmokers. In conclusion, my ReACT team and I ask that all tobacco products be banned from the market.
