In the wake of the tragedy in Newtown, CT, people have been pushing for the ban of "assault weapons" blaming them as the cause of what happened. While it is tragic that children were killed in such a senseless act, children die the world over on a daily basis and the current administration does nothing about it.
It is estimated that 16,000 children die every day due to hunger and starvation and at least 8 children were killed on 9/11 in the attacks on US soil as well as the number of children killed in "typical" air line crashes.
Hunger/starvation and air travel kill more children per year then firearms, so lets ban hunger and air travel instead of firearms. We'll save more children that way.
