Gun violence continues to be a more common occurrence in our society. Since 1968, there have been more deaths due to guns than there were in every major war since the Revolution. We must insist that anyone seeking to buy a firearm have a background check, photo ID, and pass a safety course. In addition, child safety locks must not be an option. Rather it must be mandatory. This is no longer about the right to bear arms. It is about the right to go to school without fear for your life. It is a travesty that our government has failed to find a solution to this issue. A solution must now be instated.
