Ban assault weapons for civilian use.

In the past year two major massacres occurred in Aurora and Newtown, both of which involved a shooter with a military style assault weapon. In these shootings together, 38 people died in all, while 60 others were injured. This is only a fraction of the damage these weapons cause in a year. Assault weapons should be banned in order to reduce the amount of murders of innocent people in the country. Assault weapons are designed for killing hordes of people at a time, and nobody outside of war needs that kind of power. Yes, a gun could be helpful for self-defense, but nobody is ever going to have to defend their home against an army. These killing machines should not be allowed on the streets because all they are capable of doing is bringing about death.
