Ban automobiles with excessive horsepower, do backgound checks on all car sales, and mental health evals for all drivers

Created by D.L. on January 19, 2013

1. Ban automobiles with excessive horsepower. On average, 32,000 Americans die each year due to cars. In contrast, approx. 30,000 die from firearms (19,000 being self inflicted) If lower capacity magazines in firearms can help reduce the number of gun related deaths, then lowering the ammount of horsepower a street legal vehicle can have would do the same for auto related deaths.
2. Require background checks on all automobile purchases. Much like a firearm, a vehicle is capable of causing mass carnage and destruction. By performing backgound checks on buyers, it will keep cars out of the hands of those that could do harm.
3. Require mental health eval. for drivers license renewals and new applicants. LIke evals for guns, this will keep them from operating a potentially deadly weapon.
