Fellow citizens,
We live in an age of unprecedented technological development. Much has changed in the last few decades, thanks largely to the advent of cheap, compact computers and advanced telecommunications. Little, however, has changed as much as war. Drone strikes and robotic weapons systems, once the purview of science fiction, are now a daily reality and figure largely in the tactics of today's modern battlefield. Currently these weapons still rely heavily on human decision-making, though it will only be a matter of time before the argument is made that a machine is more reliable than a person. I call upon you now to assert as vehemently as I do that the decision to employ lethal force must never be left to the cold calculation of a machine.
