Ban the bullying of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual, and transgender people in public schools regardless of beliefs.

Created by J.B. on November 14, 2012

As a nation of freedom, people may believe whatever they want to. However, in the public education system, a system funded by tax dollars, there needs to be a secular ground.

Secularism is defined by Webster as "indifference to or rejection or exclusion of religion and religious considerations."

The most poised reasoning for bullying based on sexual identity is one's religious belief. However, simply because it is a religious belief does not mean it should be acted upon in our public schools.

With this petition, we ask that a federal law be put into place to outright ban bullying based on sexual identity in public schools. Religious freedom to believe whatever you want is one thing, however when it harms others you nullify your right to expression.
