ban cable companies from imposing data caps and overage fees in order to limit Internet usage.

Created by G.W. on June 22, 2013

Consumers should not be limited or penalized for how much data they download.

Data is not like coal and gasoline. There is no stockpile of data that is depleted when a video is streamed.

The current pricing model used by many Internet service providers is unfair and penalizes consumers for fictitious costs.

Networks are limited by bandwidth, which limits the rate at which data is transferred. Much like a freeway, congestion causes delays, but nothing limits how far you may travel. The current pricing model charges for every foot of freeway driven.

A fair pricing model would be one that charges for speed, not quantity.

We, the people of the United States, do hereby petition to Government for redress of grievances. End usage caps and ensure a free, accessible Internet.
