Legislative gridlock, record low congressional approval ratings, misallocation of funds. All of these problems can be traced back to efforts made by lobbyists. Interest groups from all corners of our nation pull on our elected officials through financial donations. I believe our representatives for the most part have good intentions and truly want to serve their constituents, but the system in place puts them in a situation where if they don't fulfill the demands of those who donate money, they will be defeated in their next election. We need a constitutional amendment which bans campaign donations and will allow our representatives to properly represent us, and not those who are able to donate money.
