Testing on chimpanzees is cruel and outdated. The emotional capacity of these creatures is highly advanced; chimps suffer acutely when separated from family members and forced to endure invasive tests.
Testing on chimps is not only inhumane; it is also bad science! Although great apes are similar to humans in many ways, the differences in our genetics are significant enough that results from tests on chimpanzees are often irrelevant to human needs. Hence, the suffering most often yields no positive results.
Many countries now see that this method is wrong, and have banned it. It's time for the USA to do so as well.
Let's abolish this outdated practice and celebrate moral progress. Our ethics should not end where resistance of victims is weak; we are better than this.
