With Congress and the current administration attempting to enact bans on assault weapons, and potentially other more widespread bans on weapons in an attempt to protect citizens, we recommend a ban on the following items which are more deadly to American citizens than gun violence:
- Cigarettes and Tobacco products
- Alcoholic substances
- Fast Food establishments
As with assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, none of these listed items can be demonstrated as a necessity for any American citizen, though they cause substantial harm to the public, leading to countless rising healthcare costs, and an immeasurably large number of deaths per year.
Based on the exponential increase in diabetes and obesity, Americans have lost the needed self control, and must be regulated by this ban.
