Ban the Confederate Flag in Government Buildings

Created by F.M. on June 19, 2015

With the tragic shooting in Charleston, SC, the relevance of the Confederate Flag is a topic that we cannot ignore.

As of creation of the petition, the Confederate flag at the state capitol in Columbia, SC is at full staff. Governor Nikki Haley defended the use of the flag flying over government buildings as recent as October 2014 during a gubernatorial debate. The Confederate Flag is a symbol of the most shameful part of US history that stood for support of slavery during the civil war.

In order fight racism, we have to dispel of everything that supports/endorses it and the Confederate Flag is such a symbol. California banned its use in government buildings, it is time that the federal government bans of the use of the confederate flag in government buildings nationwide.
