Congress should not be allowed to sign any written pledge presented to them by any for-profit, non-profit or non-government group that will deter or prevent them from performing their job representing the American People, upholding their sworn oath of office and the Constitution of the United States. Groups like Grover Norquist's American Tax Reform, and others, have no business putting pressure on Congressional members to uphold pledges benefiting only them and their special interests. Pledging to a special interest group goes against our democratic system, widening the gap between parties, causing disrespect and disruption of our Government and our country. Let Congress do the job it was elected to do, with allegiance to the Constitution, our country and NOT special interest groups.
