The U.S. should ban all new construction of nuclear power plants, and work to safely de-commission all existing plants on schedule. Its not a matter of "Will" there be a major nuclear disaster at one of these plants, but "When". As the disasters at Fukishima and Chernobyl should teach us, is that these cost drastically outweigh the benefits. Besides nuclear power is an inefficient method of producing power which has to be subsidized by taxpayer money to make it competitive. Also the unending source of hazardous nuclear waste, that is dangerous for thousands of years and generations into the future, is a problem that has never been solved.
