Chinese honey has been banned in dozens of countries yet is imported and sold in the US in record amounts. This honey is contaminated with either lead or illegal antibiotics or isn’t honey at all.
It is then shipped through Asia to the United States in a practice known as “honey laundering”. The FDA has made minimal efforts to stem the flow of this dangerous product to our grocery shelves.
They need to commit the necessary resources to ensure that only SAFE honey is allowed into the US. There should be an immediate ban on honey imported from China and Asia. Honey from these sources should only be allowed in the US after development of a stringent tracking system that proves the source and purity of the honey.
